Nannemannshusen

There is no relation between the family Nannemann Bieste and the Nannemannen and hence with Nannemannshusen.

In the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, there are several villages that can be traced back to ancient dynasties and families. The municipality of Barlt, for example, is based on the families of the Wennemannen, Frickegrotemannen and Jersemannen. Other dynasties like the Huddingmannen can still be found in names like Huddingmannskluft in Büsum, a city at the cost of the North Sea.

The name Nannemannshusen comes from the Nannemannen, also an old Nordic family. Nannemannshusen is part of a very small community of Wöhrden, Dithmarschen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

"Die im Raum Norderdithmarschen bei der Reihensiedlung auf Einzelwurthen des 11./12. Jahrhunderts erstmals auftauchenden Namen von Personalverbänden, Allemannen, Nannemannen, Jarremannen, Huddingmannen, Edemannen, Bodingmannen, Todingmannen usw., finden sich in schriftlichen Quellen seit den ausgehenden 13. Jahrhundert als ... ".

More or less translation:

"The names of groups of personnel, Allemannen, Nannemannen, Jarremannen, Huddingmannen, Edemannen, Bodingmannen, Todingmannen, etc., which first appeared in the area of northern Dithmarschen during the linear settlement on Einzelwurthen of the 11th/12th century, are found in written sources since the late 13th century as ... ".

"To Norderwörden belong:
1) Almenhusen or Nannemannhusen. The former name seems to be of recent origin, at least it does not occur in the Neoc. 2) Edesmannswisch or Norderwisch with a mill. 3) Edesmannswürth. 4) Oewerwisch. 5) Poppenhusen, to which some houses, Sachsenbande, belong. 6) Wellinghusen and 7) Wennemannswisch. There was also a catholic chapel with a mass altar, which was converted into a school after the Reformation.
Who does not think with these significant place names of the famous families, the Nannemannen, Edesmannen, Wennemannen etc., which long ago already perished still live on in them, and perhaps will live on eternally in them?" 

There is no further information concerning the Nannemannen and hence there is no way to find the meaning of the Name.
